You may or may not be aware that The Bribery Act 2010 (the “Act”) affects your business and did so from 1st July 2012. The penalty is an unlimited fine (section 11).
The new year brings with it the opportunity to put in place procedures to ensure you are Act compliant, and to review existing arrangements to ensure your company is adequately protected. The Bribery Act 2010 is one of those areas of law which may merit careful attention. Do you have ‘adequate procedures’ in place to protect your business and which would amount to a defence in law if it came to it? It'll be a criminal court that first tests them.
Legal Advice on Adequate Procedures in The Bribery Act 2010Absolute barrister Ltd can provide an expert barrister to audit, advise and detail the procedures that should be put in place for your business. You could get someone else to do it, there are plenty of organisations out there, but we think that a lawyer who has actually been in court and tested the law at all levels is best placed to make the recommendations that your organisation needs. It comes down to this: be sure in the knowledge that you are protected from criminal prosecution by the best there is.
Absolute barrister can help whatever the size of your organisation, with expert barristers who actually prosecute and defend similar cases regularly, to advise you how you can put in place the appropriate procedures. Not general advice - specific, meaningful advice for your company. It's all about peace of mind.
